The end of February was a great weekend for those who attended the CFFA’s saltwater trip to Sunday Island. This was made possible by the Para Park organisation, who has generously allowed our members to attend, sleep & fish at this amazing place.
The CFFA members that attended were greeted with a magnificent day, perfect conditions for fishing and all that seemed to be missing were those large flatheads we were looking forward to catching. We were also informed that a number of King Fish had been caught in recent weeks, which had the fingers & nerves of most members tingling with excitement. However the fish did not get the memo, nor do they care about the concept of catch and release.
We did however have an amazing time, and our gracious and hospitable hosts gave us an amazing bunk house that served as our base for the 2 days of fishing ahead.
All members were successful with fish, even if they were small. Fish is Fish my god father says, no matter the size, and I have to agree with him on this as the flies I tied for this trip gave me success and happiness beyond any bait that could be used in my past endeavours.
A big thank you to CFFA member Val who arranged the entire weekend, which included the pickup and drop-off of CFFA members over the weekend. Also like to mention Rob & Steve for putting up with our lot while on the Island, and especially to Rob for coming down to our February GM and giving such a brilliant presentation.
Looking forward to next year already and the potential to tie THAT FLY that will bring home the goods.
Another thank you goes out to all CFFA members, and their exemplary behaviour over the course of 2 days. Its days/weekends that make me so proud to be part of this organisation.
